To achieve absolute realism, von Stroheim insisted on
filming every scene of Greed (1923) against its original
background and not against studio-made imitations.

Today, the building at 611 Laguna is an apartment for
retirees . It still awaits a plaque commemorating its
historic importance in cinema history as the principal
location of one of the world's greatest films.
